BNSF will stop all train operations

As many of you have heard, we will not meet our deadline for full PTC implementation and operation, by the date required. As a result, our leadership team has been clear as to how we will handle moving forward. Unless there is an extension approved, BNSF will stop all train operations, effective 0001 of January 1, 2016. Now, I would like to clarify that this is not a threat, this is in fact a stance that will be taken to prevent violating federal regulation. If we were to operate on any designated PTC territory, without being implemented, we would in fact be in violation.

I just want to let you all know that we are actively working on a shutdown plan for the entire system. This WILL happen at 0001 of January 1, 2016 if we are unable to reach an agreement with legislators. That said, I would suggest that you reach out to your members as a courtesy, letting them know of what may happen on this date.
